Let it Snow!

18 Jan

Good evening everyone!  For the few followers I have who are from more Northern areas of the US, you should probably get ready for a good laugh at this Southerners expense!

It is almost 8:00 here, and we are waiting on some snow.  We hardly got any snow last winter, so the forecast of a trace amount to 2 inches of snow is very exciting for us.  See, in North Carolina, a trace amount of snow means the end of the world as we know it.  We don’t have the tools and manpower dedicated to cleaning off the roads like more northern states do, and a lot of people don’t own cars or trucks that could safely go anywhere.  Schools and businesses close.  Already most schools around here are delayed in the morning, and at this point it’s only raining!  People storm the grocery stores to get milk and bread, which never made too much sense to be because if the power goes out what are you going to do with milk and bread?  Speaking of power, our is flickering already.

So with that explanation of North Carolina winters, I will tell you that we have had a very exciting, anticipation-filled day in my house.  I went out and bought some snow boots for the kids this morning (I had to go to 4 stores-can you believe that?!).  Maddie has been wearing hers around all night:ImageCharlie and I had some fun making snow scenes with cotton balls:Image

Charlie’s Masterpiece!

So, now we’re just waiting around for it to start snowing!  Hopefully I will have some snow pics to share with you tomorrow.

Well, I’ve figured out the milk part. You can leave it out in the snow if your power goes out. I still don’t understand why you need milk and bread though. If anything, you would want to stock up on pizza and beer!

But how would you heat up the pizza? I guess on the grill….I think maybe McDonald’s would be open.

Yeah, but if you have enough beer it doesn’t matter about the pizza! Cold, hot, frozen, whatever!

The milk is so you can make snow cream. The bread is for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You can cook anything on the grill. Even popcorn if you have some Jiffy Pop in the metal things that you use on the stove. I would like to say that I stayed home from work on Friday but it wasn’t because of the snow. It was because Emma had gross diarrhea and was banned from daycare for 24 hours.

Ew. That must have been some really gross diarrhea to get her banned from daycare.

I was gonna say milk for cereal and bread for sandwiches. I have done the milk on the back porch in the snow idea to keep it cold.. I have done it for years!
