I’m glad I have a daughter

5 Feb

I am so glad I have a daughter and I will tell you why.

1. My mom informs me that each of her ailments is hereditary. After spending time taking care of Mama after her hip replacement surgery I realize that you really need daughters to take care of you. The hip problem is hereditary……so are the polyps on the colon……and so on and so on and so on. Once you throw in the diabetes on my dad’s side of the family, I swear our family tree is trying to kill us.

2. If you must have someone helping you bathe then you want it to be the person that you gave birth to. It is less awkward if you have daughters. Here is the way I see it. If it makes you uncomfortable to see your mom naked then it is just payback for the 9 months that you made her so uncomfortable. Emma has really got it coming when I get older.

I have had a good time hanging out with my mom and sisters over the past week. We have joked around and there is nothing better than talking to your mom when she is high on painkillers. I really hope that Emma will take care of me when I have a hip replacement in 30 years. If she doesn’t then I have two sisters that better come over and help me take a shower and put clean panties on. Otherwise I’m telling mom…..

You Shouldn’t Yell During Uno!

22 Jan

Today has been quite a day!  We got off to a lazy start, so when Casey and Emma showed up at 11 to visit, I still had my robe on and Charlie and Maddie had just gotten out of the tub.  We had a great visit with Casey and Emma, though, and we got quite a bit of work done even with the distraction of a 1 year old, a 2 year old, and a 3 year old running around!

Isn't Emma precious?

We are working on some new tutus for Mommy in Bonlee and had Maddie model for us.  Charlie and Emma were so jealous, it was difficult to keep them out of the pictures!

If you like this tutu, you should check out our shop on Storenvy at http://mommyinbonlee.storenvy.com and also like us on Facebook!  This particular one isn’t listed yet, but there are plenty others!

Charlie had me cracking up tonight.  After dinner, we were having a friendly family game of UNO.  Charlie has never played before, and neither Jason nor I have played since we were children.  Jason and I were a bit overexcited, I guess.  We had not told Charlie the biggest rule of UNO: when a player has only one card remaining, they have to yell out “UNO” before the other players yell it out.  Well, when Charlie got down to one card, Jason and I both yelled at him, “UNO!”  Charlie said, “You shouldn’t yell.”  Then he busted out in tears!  It was so pitiful, but funny at the same time.

When that game was over, with Charlie being victorious because of his pitifulness, we played another game.  Jason won this one, and Charlie said, “I was supposed to win!” and started crying again!  He stuck that bottom lip out and just really put on a fit!  Jason and I were just about to die laughing.  I wish I had it on video, because it would have been a YouTube sensation!

Aren’t children funny?

Moments for Sisters-An Inspirational New Mommy in Bonlee

29 Dec

ImageThis is just a quick update for the few people who already follow my blog.  My two lovely sisters, who you see above (Casey on the left, Julie on the right) and I have started a small business called Mommy in Bonlee.  We sell handmade items such as wreaths, decor for your home, and tutus for little girls.  Because of this,  we have been spending a lot more time together (in person, on the phone, and on Facebook :)) and have decided to begin blogging together about our experiences and just about our lives in general.

I am still going to be focusing on my children and home life, but hopefully will write more often. I would really like to add more DIY things if I can just get myself together to do it!  Casey and Julie are now editors of the blog and they will be chiming in whenever they feel like it.  Together we have a pretty good sense of humor and I hope that you will find us amusing!

I will end this post with an inspirational thought from the inspirational sister book that Casey thought I needed this year. “It is only the women whose eyes have been washed clear with tears who get the broad vision that makes them little sisters to all the world.” Dorothy Dix
